The works play with gravity, weight and balance by accumulating various materials and irregularly arranged forms. These monumental sculptures enter into a direct relationship with the space and are erected on the interior and exterior spaces of the Château Saint-Maur. The unique materials of the sculptures demonstrate the mastery of their creators and their complexity defies physics and human apprehension posing new hypotheses at the heart of human perception and artistic understanding.
MINIMO is an opportunity to celebrate artists who have left their mark on art history and to present them in the unique spaces of the Château Saint-Maur. In addition to the sculptures, there are also paintings on display in the interior spaces of the Château. Amongst others, the visitors can admire works by Piero Dorazio, Peter Halley, Tracey Emin, Heinz Mack, Pierre Soulages, Zao Wou-Ki and Tom Wesselmann. The galleries participating in the exhibition are: Aktis Gallery, London; Colnaghi, London; QG Gallery, Knokke; Galerie THOMAS, Munich; Waddington Custot, London, as well as DRM motorsport.
Organised by Ars Belga, MINIMO takes the visitor on a journey between walking in the park of a wine estate and contemporary art. Minimo also provides spectacle for those who enjoy beautiful mechanics. A selection of vintage cars from DRM Motorshop, Brussels is also on display at the entrance of the Château. MINIMO presents works from different eras, related to each other in a dialogue between architecture, wine and nature. Art and the development of culture represents a primary commitment in the creation of this exhibition between Ars Belga and the Château Saint-Maur.
